Do you have to be registered to the clearing house when you apply at Pilot?
-
FMCSA Clearinghouse is a mandatory requirement for all employers and drivers who operate commercial motor vehicles under FMCSA regulations.Zonno Thanks this.

I see the Mods couldn't help with computer training, but good luck. That photo is a nice pup.
We'll give it a couple months hauling rack petroleum, and see if you can figure out that computer.
Be careful, those little details can really screw up a petroleum hauling job.Zonno Thanks this. -
I haul DEF.

Thought about starting a new thread (goodness knows I’ve created enough of them already , but I just applied for a position for fuel transport driver at a Pilot Flying J near me. My home address is 25.8 miles & 31 minutes away from their terminal according to Google maps. Not too long of a daily commute (it’d be shorter than my current commute) but I hope the ones in charge of hiring think that.
Any tips in case I get called for an interview? Will they ask questions to see if I know anything about Class 3 hazmat materials (stuff I studied for to get the endorsement)? Is it ok if I dress casually (perhaps a shirt w/ a collar tucked into jeans w/ a belt)? They asked about employment gaps longer than 1 month which I had two. Also I started at my current company in May 2020, then left to drive for a relative in August 2020 (3 months later), drove for him for 4 months and then went back to my current employer at the start of 2021, so that’s a bit of job-hopping. Otherwise no job-hopping. Hopefully this doesn’t look too bad and causes me to not get hired.
The starting pay is $23.50 during the training period and then $25.50. Those rates are low, but it’s hard to find local jobs that pay anywhere near that that are non/hazmat in my area, plus the CoL is lower than average so that’s helps. Also naturally it will be nightshift. -
I knew I had my fuel job when my boss-to-be asked me if I had a TWIC card, & I showed it to him.
Later....I never used it.
-- LZonno Thanks this. -
I don’t have a TWIC card (it asked me that on the application) but I can get one if necessary.
