Where is everyone #5

Along WA state's Columbia River for today. This is my walking path and "workout" area.

That's a nice drive. Since rates dropped I don't get over that way much.

 

The animals are going crazy in AR. Lil kitten hit this mornin on I-30

 

And they say no mountain lions in Arkansas

 

Well, there's one less!

Nice big cat!

 

My great grandma and grandpa grew up in the mountains around Artist Point. Way before Hwy 71 was anything more than a trail.

My great grandma told me the last big cat she remembered seeing was in the early 70's. But before that, encounters were rare, but frequent enough it wasn't a shock to hear or see one every few years.

I had an encounter with what I think was one when I was 14. My grandpa had a pretty good sized spread along Frog Bayou.

I had camped out after hunting that day, and sometime after I laid down I started hearing these screams. I had no idea what it was, and still don't know if it was a cat, but it was the worst thing I've ever heard in the woods.

It went on for 5 or 10 minutes. It bothered me enough I backed outta there without the tent, and my H&R single shot ####ed till I hit the road a mile or so away.

My other grandpa told me later my description of what I heard sounded like a cat. He had seen and heard many while working around the CA/OR border in the 40's
