You may want to save your energy man. As long as trucking remains the good ole boys club, it doesn't matter about how many accidents occur; who follows guidelines when it comes to getting a CDL, etc. A truck driver must follow a very specific demographic, prototype, dress code, and philosophy. Otherwise, one should be banished from the industry. The goalposts move considerably for those that think the "American Way." I almost wish that the administration would succeed in ridding the country of immigrants, then the shock value of the industry still being screwed up will be amazing. You'll still have guys who wear the flip flops, block the fuel island, speed, text and drive, steal reserved parking, park crazy at the truck stop, and have fatal accidents. It's better to pass narratives than to actually go to the root of problems. That would require too much intellect.

I wouldn't call it a "good ole boys club", rather it's a "profit over everything else club". Blaming immigrants just distracts from the real issues, which if addressed would result in cries of "over regulation".

Some folks just don’t like to hear the truth because it hurts their little feelings…

Let me know when you're willing to hold Jeff Bezos criminally liable for his 'contractors', then we can talk about how 'immigrants are the problem'.

I'd call it that as well. Those that blame immigrants are coming from a different place other than the true well being of the industry. You see all the posts like I do. The propaganda is real. It's quite divisive as well. The true problems of the industry will exist, immigrants or not. The problems are just more tolerable for them without immigrants.

First of all when you immigrate to another country one of the smartest things a person can do is is get assimilated with the country… Nobody has a problem with people immigrating people have a problem with people coming here and demanding that we cater to their way of life where they came from that’s not how it works here… Just like if you go to another country, you might wanna learn how to assimilate into their country as well… secondly the vast majority here want everybody to play by the rules not just a certain sector of population get a free pass because it suits them… That’s a big problem that a certain sector of society just deliberately chooses to ignore…

Funny you should mention that... a LOT of the Amazon drivers causing mayhem out here are immigrants... also the ELDT stuff was in Legislation (MAP-21) pushed and signed into law by Obama...nice try though.

Okay, don't care if the Amazon driver's are immigrants or not. The issue is a corporation has found a way to employ substandard drivers for cheap while avoiding any responsibility for their actions. Make the various corporations - Amazon, FedEx, drayage companies, LP outfits, etc - 100% liable for the actions of their contractors and watch how fast the industry changes.

ELD was covered under MAP-21, ELDT was 100% done by the Trump administration.

Ummm... no... this is DIRECTLY from the FMCSA website. Do I need to post the complete regs, with citations?

    "About the Training Provider Registry

The FMCSA Training Provider Registry retains a record of which CDL applicants have completed the new training and certification process outlined in the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations.

For more information about the ELDT regulations and the Training Provider registry, visit Training Provider Registry.

The ELDT regulations and the Training Provider Registry were mandated under the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21). The ELDT final rule was based, in part, on consensus recommendations from the Agency’s Entry-Level Driver Training Advisory Committee (ELDTAC), a negotiated rulemaking committee that held a series of meetings in 2015."

The ELDT provisions came into effect in Feb 2022, when Biden was President...Care to try again?

I think our immigration should be like those in most of asia and alot of other countries , ya cant own land and ya cant become a citizen . but can have a long term retirement visa. Service means citizenship, starship troopers ...
