I also have to wait for a bit anyway- I am on reporting probation until June 2026. I’m actually on probation for four years but it’s not supposed to be reporting after June 2026 from what I understand- which is when I would be trying to go about this.

btw- how would a company verify I was a stay at home mom? I was when between jobs.

There is no way to prove it. They would just have to accept it.

well when I get ready to go to school I will go to the social security office to get my ten year employment history and then contact the truck driving companies before I attend. And yes I will list that I was a stay at home mom between jobs. Hoping I can find any company willing to work with me- with the criminal history too. They are all misdemeanor fours- lowest you can have in Ohio. Also do you think being on probation- non reporting at that point- would be an issue? My original sentence could only have been 60 days- I have actually considered asking to go to jail to get it over with. I asked my probation officer about this recently and she said some people do choose to serve their jail time simply to not have to deal with probation. I have no issues staying out of trouble I just wonder if being on probation, non reporting at that point, would be a hindrance. If it would be I would choose jail for 60 days.

You could talk to recruiters and see what they say. They will be upfront with you. Are you trying to do local or over the road?

I would prefer over the road but local would also be okay. Tbh I have just reached a point in my life where I need to straighten things out big time. I am 43 and working in fast food. It’s very bad. I think I might ask to go to jail to get probation over with.

It's easier to get hired as over the road to start with. A year no tickets or accidents. Then options open up. After 6 months there will be better options. But 1 year and 2 years in more money better equipment.

Call recruiters. Start there. You crimes are not horrible. But they are recent.

Are you allowed to leave the state on probation? A lot of times it's a no.

Yah, don’t ask to go to jail..stupid idea. If you’re currently employed stick with it until you can make the move to trucking. Your future relies on you pulling up your big girl pants and dealing with the bs life throws at you.

Your work history isn’t as bad as you think because you weren’t a CDL driver. Just stay put at your job and use that as a starting point. Prior you were a “stay at home mom”. It’s not rocket science and employers will most likely be understanding. A man on the other hand may have trouble using the “stay at home dad” reason..

Driving record will be an issue if there’s anything bad on it in the last 3-5 years. Pull your MV record and report back here if there’s something bad like a dui or a big speeding ticket in the last few years.

Your criminal record isn’t bad either..just misdemeanor charges. Just list the crimes you were convicted of and forget about the ones that were dismissed. That “jaywalking” charge really puts you in the bad girl category, lol. Sorry that one made me laugh. We’ve all done worse so that isn’t going to be anything that dogs you.

My advice is just apply to training companies like Swift and see where it goes. If nothing else you’ll get a better idea of what you need to do to eventually become a truck driver.

    Good luck

no, I am not allowed to do that on reporting probation. Which is why I would be waiting to attend school for another year and another reason I’m thinking of asking to have the sentence converted to jail time- serving the 60 days instead of four years. On non reporting I would be allowed to leave the state - I know this because I had non reporting probation for my disorderly conduct charge in 2021.
