I have a similar problem. I have a 1999 VNL64T built in 1998 with N14 celect plus. We got it as a starter truck. Its a fixer-upper, and one of its many problems is the instrument cluster. Bad connection, and dielectric grease doesn't fix it. Its also in very bad shape with broken bezel and screw holes. It is the 4 connector, 7 gauge version 1078800, and the only reasonably priced replacement is a 10 gauge version 85102013 for about $900.

I would love to have the extra gauges, but can I get it to work out of the box? What kind of issues am I looking at? Should I try to resolder and fix the old one? The truck isn't tagged yet, so driving to the dealer for an ecm flash isn't convenient right now.

(The air gauge cluster is still in the truck.)

Mine is the one without the diff temp gauges. Its a different model number though. Doesnt look like any difference. Mine is the 4 plug, just to be sure.

I've been working on resoldering the pins. Made some progress but it's very difficult, especially since my tools and solder are too big.

Would it be a bad Idea to get the diff temp gauges? I wouldn't mind unplugging them and storing them for the future if it doesn't cause any issues.

Will it work out of the box or will I need to reflash?

I managed to get it working awhile ago. I painstakingly glued, reglued, soldered, and jbwelded the living $*!* out of it. I came very close to giving up on it when I burned a pin contact, but I got her done, complete with new plexiglass. Just needs washers and bolted in.... after I'm done working with the airlines....

I could use a spare though, given its one of the most vulnerable/ irreplaceable components on the truck.
