Ya I will try and keep this updated as much as possible. I’m pretty excited I’ve done linehaul but never been otr in a sleeper so gonna be a bit different but thats ok. Def better than a street sweeper. I feel like the lead there just gives all the jobs I can do as a truck driver to his 2 heavy equipment operators. So I’m with leaving money will be better with dot anyways. Looking forward to seeing new places.

I talked with some of their drivers before I dropped an app there and to a man every one of them had been there for a few years and had intentions to retire from there. They have good health insurance and their work will never slow down. I had an app in with Walmart prior to them but didn't hear anything from Walmart for 2 months until just before DOT accepted my app. I went thru DOT's process in case Walmart fell thru but thankfully it didn't. If it had I think DOT would've been solid and if you're able & open to tossing some freight you can be home daily $120k+ on a Monday-Friday schedule there with Saturdays and Sunday's off.

My DOT interview was with the Manchester, TN DC manager and also the transportation manager both asking me questions. I forget what kind of interview technique it's called but it wasn't bad. Took about 45 minutes and went well. Basically just answering questions about how you would deal with certain scenarios, previous experience/employers. Just use common sense there and also don't bad mouth any previous employers. Dress appropriately too, get a hair trim. Work jeans, button down shirt tucked in, work boots. They'll officially offer you the job after this interview and your next step is training. Which for an experienced driver as yourself is more along the lines of learning how they do things, not necessarily teaching you how drive a truck you already know that.

ya I have t heard much bad about it outside the driver facing cams but those don’t seem that touchy. I wanted to apply to Walmart but I live outside their hiring area. And non hiring right now around the area. Dot seems like will be good fit and website says up to 95+k a year so I’m good with that too. As much as being home daily or close to it sounds I live 115 miles from there dc so once a week I’m fine with less gas and miles on car. Just to bad can’t take truck home. Ya they had those scenarios questions with all 3 interviewers. Was there for about 3.5 hours. Did a drive test did well have to get use to these automatics. And backing a sleeper is a bit different. Ya important to not go in looking like a bum lol and I already have short hair and beard so good there. Hoping they’ll cut me loose a bit dinner then what the project.

Congratulation sir! We built a retirement home in the Laughlin Ranch area of Bullhead. It's just north of your facility off of Bullhead Parkway and Laughlin View Dr. We are not there very often even though we are retired. I hope for the best for you.

Did the physical and agility test for dot today. Start date will be Nov 17. Torn on what to do cuz gov could open back up in mean time and I’d have my job back. Made a pros and cons list. Decisions
