With a clean record that is certainly achievable. Im asking how much the physical control would impact those targets
-
100 percent. In this economy, give it 100 percent on the dock, and be very thankful they kept you.
-
IMO, the physical control removes those targets. There is no driver shortage, and less than ideal drivers are the first to discover thatTripleSix, wore out and austinmike Thank this.

I notice that everyone in this forum is so eager to discourage new drivers any way they can. In my experience that usually is an indication someone feels threatened by the competition. Oh well, I will get a CDl anyways and don't care what haters want to say. Almost nobody has a perfectly clean MVR or criminal record. So we will see

I do. But besides that, 3 yrs isn't all that long, and you have a job. But I think it stinks that the laws are less and less tolerant. They won't even let you sleep it off in the car. The legal limit keeps getting lowered until it will be zero. Its about extracting money. I contend that most fatalities are not caused by " buzzed" drivers, contrary to the propaganda. Btw, I don't drink.

Not trying to pee in your cereal, just giving it to you straight. The media is portraying mass layoffs of drivers due to English requirements, and pretending that there is a massive shortage of drivers. This is totally untrue. We have far too much capacity for the work available. Go ahead, get your CDL, it’s a great thing to have in your back pocket, but there is a very strong possibility you will have it for a while before you can find a good job. Or, try to get hired on at Milestone, or a company similar, as a dump truck driver. Some of those guys make a very good living. As far as competition, I’m not worried at all. Both my trucks are paid for, and they don’t start unless the money is good.TripleSix and austinmike Thank this.

Man I’m sorry for the bad news, I’ve spoken to a lot of companies since this and most of my previous employers. The answer is try back in 3 years or no. The reckless op would have probably been the same. You should still try. My personal car insurance only went up 50%. I’ll post if I find anything for future readers. LMK if you find anything, I’m guessing we’re both in Ohio.

My can insurance only went up 10% since the suspension hit my MVR. These companies dont know what they are talking about as it is their insurance companies that we are worried about. The physical control charge does not apply to the MVR like a recklace op since it is non moving. Non moving violations will only show up on a background check. From what I know the insurance companies primarily use the MVR to assess your driving record and only use criminal background checks for certain occasions (like to inspect a red flag)
The concerning part is that the MVR will show the history of past license suspensions and the reason with no way to seal this. So it is a red flag but not neccessarily a disqualifier. That is what my school told me and they already found me a pre hire. He said a lot of local companies will hire even a single time OVI convicted driver so there is hope its just a matter of how much BS you wanna go through.
Needless to say next time I am too drunk to drive, I will take my chances with driving rather than chilling in the parking lot. LmaoLast edited: Oct 31, 2025
