@Midwest Trucker , how have you been? Haven't seen you on here for a bit.
I really enjoy the perspective of the small fleet guys on here like you, @wichris , and @Ridgeline . Well, I assume you all are small fleet guys anyway, but I have know idea how many trucks each of you have. -
Welp after all the time I have been on my own I finally got stuck with a few skids of damage. The pallets were left with room between and moved around a lot and broke one skid. Had a dog run out in front of me within a mile down the road and had to slam my brakes on. Then from there went through a bunch of mountains and of course the horrible I70 in IN, OH, and Il for the final blow.
These are plastic pellets for high end medical devices. Still on trailer after sitting at home yesterday waiting to figure out what they are gonna do with them. Hopefully will find a place today to get them unloaded and removed. Not a big deal since I was coming home and had plans on maybe staying home anyways. Just frustrating I have to deal with it more than anything when I had the days planned to do some other stuff. Now have to stay close to truck just incase they want it delivered in a few hours.
Was told will at least be paid for the holding onto the skids but not sure what it will be at this point. Glad it was with my main broker I deal with and have never had an issue before till now. Cant complain as this happens to the best of us at some point if you stay in the game long enough.gentleroger and 86scotty Thank this. -
Looks like I get to drive it back to WV. Got a better rate going back and only about 10K at most in weight vs 42K. Will need to figure out layover pay as well but built in some of that in the rate going back. Could had been worse, made a sucky situation into something worthy at least.
86scotty and gentleroger Thank this. -
Used to haul plastic pellets a lot, any of the food grade or medical grade stuff that would get rejected we would warehouse and our customer would eventually sell them off by the truck load, the buyer was always a PepsiCo or Coca-Cola Bottler in Brazil.

They wanted this stuff back as it is pretty expensive stuff. Will deliver in the morning. Ended up getting a really good rate going back plus 3 days of layover so not too bad. I know a couple molding companies that would had bought this stuff if I got to keep it in the area. I used to work with a few of them when I worked in manufacturing. Was kind of hoping I could sell it as they are worth about 4K a bag and I have 5 bags.
