I work for Walmart right now and I know they hire many outsiders because they don't make many of thier employees work weekends. AND they get paid a #### of a lot!

Pulling for Wally World would be nice. The job security is definately there. I was watching a special on Discovery, where the Walmart CEO stated they (board) approve breaking ground on 30-50 stores a month. Unbelievable potential revenue.

I'v hauled one walmart load to brownsville FL I think it was. They crashed a forklift through the floor of my reefer and tried to charge me for it. I won't touch a wlamart load ever again. Unless you work for them they are a total PITA to deal with. Would be a great job if you work for them though.

I hauled stuff to Wally stores for the company I work for. Just last week I had a pallet of new release DVD's going on sale this Tuesday.
I guess if they can ship it on us cheeper, it's money in there pockets.

Well I drive for US Xpress, and sometime when Wal Mart has more freight than they can handle, and they get behind, they reach out to other carriers for temporary help. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I was pulling Walmart freight in a Walmart trailer, delivering to Walmart stores. Just like Walmart drivers do. But like I said this is temporary. I pretty sure that Walmart is paying BIG MONEY for this temporary help, getting the truck and the driver. I get a flat rate of $175 per day no matter how much or how little I drive. So you know that USX is probably getting somewhere in $750-$1,000 range, per day. As I said this is temporary. I only pulled for them for 4 days, then I was released. I guess they can't afford to pay $1,000 a day forever.

Swift has a large Wal-Mart dedicated contract, I tired to get that when I was driving for them, but nope. Instead they gave it to new drivers fresh of the trainers truck..

    TO BURKY -
Hey there - saw your posts here and I am trying to get my fiance back in a truck. He has a Class A CDL and worked previously for Swift. Due to an altercation between him and his dispatcher, Swift won't hire him back. He also drove for TCT out of Taylor, TX hauling bridge beams. He doesn't mind OTR (in fact prefers it). If you know of anyone that is hiring a hard-working and honest driver, let me know. Tango and Allied Van Lines aren't hiring in the area. He's got an application in with JB Hunt and a couple others. We're looking for someone that isn't going to hold what happened at Swift against him (he stopped for fuel and the card wouldn't work). He's never had any accidents or speeding tickets while driving a big rig. Any ideas? We're in the Austin, TX area. I just had seen your post to someone else about driving regionally for a company in Houston.

    Thanks :)
