Yo Tree, Welcome. Keep reading the threads before you decide want to do. It's getting harder to get a CDL every day. But once you make up your mind go for it. Be prepare for the rocky road for a couple years until you get some miles under your belt. Goodluck to ya.:biggrin_25525:

Welcome to forum, I am KH. As many people have said it is very difficult, especially if you have a family at home. Also, can you handle the responsibility of driving for 11hours and filling out a detailed log book? Finally, do you have lots of patience? If you do, then trucking could be for you. It is not your normal 8-4, 9-5 job. Your in control of a object that takes longer to stop than cars and can weigh 40-60 tons. Here is a good place to get started:

I went ahead and got my permit on my own .
And i understand by reading for hours the storys on here.
I know its not just about driveing,if it was everybody would do it.

I have never drove through a city at 5pm traffic or anywhere i know i am not a full truckdriver even when i do have my cdl.
My buddy who still works at the food warehouse i did, said after me loseing my temper with the boss and quitting that many of the drivers said they miss me(lol)
I used to back their trucks in ,cause it was a tight ### spot, but after 14 years of helping them doesn't make a truckdriver.

I have a local company that wanted me to get my cdl, thank god i didnt rush into some of these schools, cause it would take me way longer than 3 weeks and a few hours to be comfortable.

But as far as you guys ,you all dont get the credit you all deserve.:biggrin_25514:

Welcome and good luck. And if you ever end up driving OTR make sure you know as much as possible before you ever lease a truck, should you decide to take that path... Good luck!!
