To be honest, I've only used it for that one run, and haven’t used any others before, but I thought it was great.
There was quite a bit of stuff you were required to carry.. Rain jacket, long sleeve shirt, long pant, headlights, water filter, bear spray, etc.
Worked good. No chafing, water bottle access on the front was good. I didn't use the bladder for that run, but will toss it in on longer runs now until I grab a smaller one.
Anybody run?

Well today’s run didn’t go as planned. Don’t have a cup of coffee right before you run. That was today’s lesson learned. Frustrating because I was having a great run, liked my pace, my body and mind were feeling good. Oh well, that’s life and I will toe the line again tomorrow.

Nice work!
Wind picked up crazy here so I came down the mountain last night.
@DeereRunner97, you mentioned the LMNT a few days ago, and it prompted me to try something different.
I always start my runs pretty early. Usually between 2 and 5 am, and dry.
This morning I got up at 1:45 and drank a full bottle of water. I mixed another bottle with LMNT and had that at 3, and my daily C4 at 3:30. I think I've been going out dehydrated.
Anyway, nice and slow again, but heart rate was much easier to manage while hydrated. I also noticed my stamina didn't drop much at all. I'm sure due to the lower heart rate. I'll keep that up and see how it progresses.
I'm gonna keep after this slow for 6 more weeks, then mix in 20% of sprints and hill repeats.
Got my squat rack put together and in the corner of the shop. It's dahm sure no fancy home gym, but I won't have to wait on the gym bro's to get out of the way anymore.

Dam, I thought I started my runs early. If I’m at the house, I usually want to be out the door by 3:45am. If it’s a long run, any over 45 minutes, I run that after work.
That’s great you may have found something with hydration. It’s got to be hard staying hydrated and driving. Obviously keeping that door closed is the goal so water consumption goes down. That was a great run this morning. Zone 2 running is what the experts say is key to getting better.
After the half in December, I’m going to focus a lot more on stretching and mobility work. I like your idea of throwing in some weights for cross training. I can’t stand going to the gym, all the racks taken and no one actually using them. I have free weights at the house, I will look into that this winter.Big Road Skateboard and Oxbow Thank this. -

I wasn’t able to run until Friday when I got back home, so I crammed four days of training in two days. Not my brightest idea ever, but I did it. So today was my long run, nothing too exciting, just a half marathon. Three minutes slower than my PR, but my legs were able to keep up especially after the two days of cramming.

My brother is coming into town for Thanksgiving, so we signed up for a four mile fun run Thanksgiving morning.

Nice work there. You're really cranking out some speed there. And not bad for that heart rate. Do you run with your brother pretty often?
I run with my brother quite a bit at home. Kinda funny cause he's a big guy. Near 300 pounds when I started running.
He's always ran some. It started in the Navy, and he continued afterwards, with a few marathons in his 30's.
He hadn't ran in years. I started running and going to the gym, and coaxed him into the gym with me. Then he decided to start running again. He's about 220 now, and mid 50's.
Heart rate for heart rate he can still run faster than me. All out zone 5 or in the mountains though, I can smoke his ###.
We both kept heart rates in the mid 120's today, but I ran a full 4 hours. He ran 20 minutes less and still finished near a mile further.
I got twenty five years of Marlboros in the lungs and the same time in liquor. I'll blame them. Pretty proud of him though.
Knocked out 4 hours today. Then squats, deadlifts, bench press, and incline set ups. Nutrition was 1 LMNT 30 minutes before, took 2 17oz bottles of LMNT on the run, 1 17oz bottle mixed with Tailwind, and 1 Gu gel. Finished all of those and legs never got heavy.
Speaking of heart rate, I've decided to go ahead and start some V02Max training twice a week. I feel like I really have a decent base, but have really neglected the high cardio.

Another solid run man, good work. How do you like those EU Gels? I got some, but I have a hard time stomaching them. They were my first gel and I had no idea what to expect. Maybe I should give them another shot.
I hardly ever run with my brother, Thanksgiving is really the only time we do the fun run together. He lives outside Chicago and I’m in Columbus, Ohio.
That’s awesome you get to run with your brother, glad you were able to talk him into training with you. I bet that’s some good time together, plus there’s always that competition.

Nice. My V02 clocks in at 45 right now.
The gels are awful. The Tailwind is about the same, but it has 200 calories, lots of carbs, and mixes with water, so a little easier to stomach.
I'm really just trying to get the body used to them on these long runs. I eat very few carbs, and even less straight sugar, so all that sugar wears on me in the longer events.
I did some studying on it, and the doctors say the body pulls blood from the stomach to use for the muscles during endurance events like the ultras. Which makes digestion tough even for simple sugars.
They basically said a steady intake of fluids and carbs will help keep you from getting to the area I was in in that race. I didn't eat or drink the last 3 hours, and that sure didn't help.DeereRunner97 Thanks this.
