We never hear any follow ups on these types of stories. They arrest the driver meanwhile the real brains or kingpin of the operation just goes on with their life. How many of the drivers that truly had no idea what was in their trailer have been let go due to lack of evidence that they were anywhere near involved the whole scheme. Do they go back and question the shipper? Find the exact origin of the load? Or do they all high five each other because they caught the smallest fish?

Very few if any. Of course they all claim they did not know. No guilty people in jail either. Taking 2.6 million out of there pockets is a good place to start. I think a law should be inacted to allow drivers to inspect all non-government loads before taking off down the road. I ran into problems for refusing containers in the harbor that were improperly loaded. I found that if you flag down a cop in the harbor tell them you thought someting shifted i the container, they were more than happy to open it up, and when the find its not secure, I have had them excort me back into can yard to drop it for securement reasons. If your evver in doubt about a load CHP (at least here in Cali) will be happy to assist you in resolving the issues.

That's good and all but I doubt a driver would find meth inside a battery casing, or packages deep down in an onion load. Our sniffers aren't as keen. Plus I'm not crawling all over a load or signing off on the dock that everything looks "legit". I'm just a driver. I was called to pick up and deliver this load.

    PacoTaco Thanks this.

Those drivers had removed onions from the cases in the load, put them in duffle bags under the sleeper, and you want me to believe they did not know about the meth. Plus they did not speak english or so it appears.
If nothing else you can at least examine the load for securement.

I'd venture this was a Mexican truck crossing the river bridge, maybe going to a transload warehouse in Laredo.
