Think some of the Petros may have stanleys. Or maybe it was Sapp bros... can't remember but I know I saw some recently.

Fill it with hot tap water while I’m getting ready, empty and fill with hot coffee and it’s still hot 24 hours later. If only it could talk….

Scored me a Stanely today, Walmart of all places!
Would the older generations here be familiar with percolator coffee makers? My wife has one in storage somewhere. Might take it along and make a pot on my break and refill the Stanely. No point in buying anything new or fancy.OLDSKOOLERnWV, 77fib77, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
Not long. Got my permit the end of March. They sent me to a CDL school for behind the wheel training, but it was about useless. More on that another day...
Finally passed my test the end of October. My employer had me running a box truck a few days a week and driving with a company trainer the other days, all local routes.
I've been at this a long time, getting my CDL that is.tscottme Thanks this. -
I still make coffee the old-fashioned way -- with a percolator.
My vote sez....if you have access to a percolator...with all the necessary parts...& it still works (start-to-finish time is approx 10 minutes, or a bit more)...give it a try or two.
I think the percolator design results in a superior end result -- becuz the water recirculates back thru the coffee grounds numerous times during its perc process -- thus producing a richer flavor.
The aroma & the sounds it makes are almost as cool...

Why not buy coffee from the truck stop? Many Loves, and other truck stops have the "bean to cup" coffee makers that grind the beans and make fresh coffee in under 2 minutes while you wait. My 5-cup drip coffee maker in the truck was for those times I parked overnight at a customer or an empty lot.

I remember percolators. Until I was maybe 8 years old, percolators were the most common way people made coffee at home. Then the original Mr. Coffee came out and took over the home coffee market. IMO, percolators make bitter coffee and automatic drip coffees don't. Percolators depend on boiling water and coffee beans get best flavor when they are in water slightly below boiling. To use a percolator you need something like a hot plate or the eye on your stove at home. So you need to buy something to use the percolator. I think I would buy coffee or fill my thermos from a truck stop until I had a few paychecks rolling in. You don't have to have everything at the very start. But you make coffee however you like it, not how I like it.
