You asked for dry van carriers....that will (also) allow a small dog.
The cold, hard truth:
Freight volumes, generally speaking....are at their lowest point now....in years (decades).
Thus....it is currently a carrier's job market -- NOT a driver's job market.
Despite what you may have seen/read elsewhere -- there is NO driver shortage.
Also: as a truck driver -- your pay is based on a number of factors... but one of the main ones is (of course) EXPERIENCE.
As a brand new driver -- you have NO experience (sorry -- CDL school time does NOT count); thus, your pay will pretty much start off "in the basement".
Sooooo...don't expect $80k per year as a first-year OTR truck driver.
Your first year or two you are actually still learning the ropes; so you have to look at OTR basically as a paid apprenticeship -- & not a high-paying gig (that comes later -- especially if you load up on those CDL endorsements).
Becuz of the above: you may well have to work harder, & submit a lot more applications...than otherwise normal....to get that first OTR job.
Note also...becuz of the above....that any carrier suggestions listed on this thread (or elsewhere)....may not be hiring brand new drivers....by the time you get a CDL....
The above is not meant to discourage you....but rather, give you a realistic assessment of some of the challenges ahead -- so you can go forward, with your eyes wide open.
