How does their lease purchase program work as advertised at http://www.drive4malone.com/lease_purchase.php ?
I am considering doing a dedicated Family Dollar account with Schneider and possibly looking at my own truck (but just starting out, obviously don't have the cash or credit to buy a truck) in a few years, and wanted to find the highest-earning company to do business with. I just graduated truck driving school at Iowa Central Comm College, so obviously I'm not ready to be a business owner yet.

They're based in Cedar Rapids, IA and I live in Boone, IA so I'm sure they'd be able to get me home most weekends. (I have a wife and kids that I'm sure would love to actually see me and spend time with me once in a while instead of just sending checks home)

    Any suggestions?

Never, ever, EVER do a lease purchase. That's the single biggest rip off in the industry.

Cool, I'll definitely steer clear of those. I had heard a lot of negative and virtually no positive--thank you for the warning. I certainly do appreciate it, driver! :)

No prob. If you want to become an O/O eventually, just budget your money for that goal and do it the conventional way. There's no short cut. Put your nose to the grindstone and get it done man.

Since you live in Iowa and want regular hometime, check out a company called Green Products. A friend of mine worked for them before becoming an O/O and he was home all the time. That friend lives in Marshalltown.

I just tried to pm you but it won't let me because my post count is too low or something like that....weird. anyway, Here's the text I was going to tell you--it's a little off topic from CRST Malone but:

Schneider -- I got a callback from Schneider about a Family Dollar account, that isn't necessarily that lucrative but will get me home on the weekends.

I just graduated driving school so I'm pretty much going to have to accept any job right now right? All the local companies want 1-2 years OTR before they'll even consider a candidate. I have a wife and kid at home and child support to pay for my son--so I need a job and fast. From what I hear, 99% of the companies that accept new drivers are evil--so I'm probably just going to have to suck it up for a couple years until I can save enough to buy my own truck, aren't I?

I have 6 years in the Air Force and a clean driving record. No tickets or accidents in the last 10 years.

Pleasure to meet you btw, I'm Jeremy.

    -------------------------
I'll check into Green Products--I see their trucks once in a while. Thanks for the tip!!
