Fifth wheel won’t release (with photos)

    Another problem. My fifth wheel will not release. My fifth wheel has 2 levers. The first lever closest to trailer will not release and I can’t disconnect. I am attaching photos.     Are you backed into the trailer? As in set trailer brakes and gently reverse the truck and set tractor brakes?

    I’m on concrete ground. It’s the safety latch that is preventing the disconnect of the trailer. Additional pictures

    Try hitting the wedge stop thingy on the opposite side of where the handles are.

    Don’t understand? It won’t lock just that safety latch is locked. I have blocked the trailer. The only other thing I can think of is driving on some dunnage

    Appreciate that. I have all the tools just trying to free the safety latch so I can reconnect. The jaws aren’t closing either but the lever opens and closes for the jaws
