yeah unfortunately right now that is the case I was told by an old driver that a year ago or two years ago a lot of of these characters were not in management and the miles were good and the drivers were happy but once they decided to in organically grow and bring in double the number of drivers and put any one that can breathe into a position of power in the office it just threw everything under the bus

Do you know their turnover rate? I'm assuming it's high.

I just want to highlight this part, "office bathrooms are not for drivers."

This is a microcosm of how OTR truckers are treated in this broken sector of the industry. Denied access to bathrooms on their company's own property. Nothing says "Our drivers are family" like denying them access to bathrooms at your own headquarters.

You literally see this behavior by employers towards their own employees on display here on the front page of favorite trucking companies section of the forum too.

Abilene locks their doors to the office and drivers lounge at their main terminal at nighttime without giving drivers a key or key pass, thus denying them access to bathrooms. FCC does the same thing and locks their doors at I think it was their Council Bluffs terminal (or maybe the one in Fremont I can't remember I read it on their main thread), so that their drivers cannot use the shower facilities or I'm assuming their bathrooms either at nighttime. And this particular company seeks to not only deny drivers access to bathrooms during the nighttime at their terminal but also during the daytime as well, literally creating a two tier discriminatory employee policy of denying one group of workers access to the same bathroom facilities as a second group of workers.

Let's not even talk about warehouses holding drivers up (I'm looking at you cold storage facilities) for 3-12 hours and don't provide a bathroom for drivers, many times not even a portable one either.

Is there any other profession that requires workers to be away from home for work and gets denied bathroom facilities at their companies own properties when they are done working for the day? Even oil workers in the middle of nowhere at least get man camps with access to indoor toilets and running water. Every other profession gets you a hotel room on their dime. Only OTR truckers are treated as subhuman with no guaranteed access to bathrooms when they overnight on their own company's property.

Sorry for the rant and yes I'm sure the super truckers will be here shortly to tell me that real truckers don't deserve 24/7 access to the same indoor bathrooms the office workers use, but this issue really is a perfect microcosm for how OTR truckers are treated. Like straight up garbage. And the industry wonders why young people are turning their backs on OTR and don't want to do it.

When I worked at FCC, you could access the driver's lounge, bathrooms, and showers 24/7 in Fremont. The bathroom was accessible 24/7 in Council Bluffs but the driver's lounge and showers were only available during business hours. It was a few years ago so maybe things have changed, I don't know.

I dont know it off hand but put it this way... As we were going to our truck I ran into 2 different drivers turning trucks in the same day. Then I met a drive week later who was flown out to lewiston to pick up a truck another driver abandoned there due to not paying him breakdown and days from there one of the guys I was in orientation with was fired apparently for over staying his hometime by a couple days.

That no bathroom access part really rubs me the wrong way.... If I cant poop in the bathroom you poop in, its not a good fit.
