Hi there. My 2018 Cascadia DD15 with 500,000 miles has to perform a parked regen once every 2-3 weeks on average. It tends to idle and do a lot of stop and go in traffic and at the port. Also the MIL light comes and goes. Is this common for the truck to perform a regen that often? I know idling the truck will build up soot a lot quicker, but that's the nature of having to do drayage work and also dealing with the LA traffic. I also got the DPF baked around 11 months ago. Other than that, the truck runs fine and has no other problems. Any tips and tricks or recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

How many hours on the engine? When you had it baked the last time, did they mentioned to you anything unusual about it ?

I have a 2021 Max 13,I do a regen once a month.Very little idle hours.I have the OTR tool and can plug it in,see the soot level and all that.Ill do a regen when it gets to 50% soot level.
Hook your truck up to a test tool,it should have the history of your MIL light,it will tell you what is going on.

I'd recommend buying a LAPTOP, subscribing every year to Detroit Diesel's Diagnostiklink engine software, and Nexgen 3 controller so you can do it yourself.

Also, take your truck to Carlos Diesel Electric over in Montebello, CA. Watch his youtube videos on repairing DD15 engines.

He's very straightforward and I've saved thousands just watching his videos. Very Kowledgeable mechanic about emissions.

He is also one of the few qualified mechanics who will work on "ahem" trucks that are not stock.
