i have my authority that i was running from 2011 to 2018 , in 2018 i never renewed insurance and was running other authority with my partner , mid 2024 i reactivated my authority and planned to run mine again.
i did not work for bit over a year but my authority was active (min liability to keep it active) , hoping to age the company so i am not new entrant by the time i decide to come back . i got 2 good accounts at the moment but i need to book back haul through load board . having a problem with brokers denying me like a scam because i did not have any inspections from mid 2024 ...they dont explain much but 2 of them mention it as well as our safety department cant approve you ...one broker emailed : you are not a carrier , no trucks listed , no insurance , no eld and no inspections...only last 2 true ...any suggestions?
problem booking loads

Get an inspection, or make phone calls to shippers in that area and get your own backhaul.
OldeSkool, abyliks, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -
call a couple of local companies to that area, they might have a brokerage side for some of their extra stuff, or talk to your customers to see if they need anything coming back from that area and do it through them
I don’t do scales or eld so I probably wouldn’t be able to get anything off a board either at this point in timeSpeedy356 and Cleduskenworth Thank this. -
I have no inspections and have the same problem with a few brokers. I finally broke down and pulled in to two scales in the last week, when I had some free time, to try to get an inspection. TN and SC. They will NOT do voluntary inspections. Sign on door said "Inspections are only done randomly. NOT by request." Nice lady DOT officer said people drop in constantly so they had to put up signs.
Brokers have got to figure out another way. I have had some success sending them my mechanic's annual DOT inspection. -
I did uturn today coming back from Milwaukee because wi scale was open - got green light ...even though i intentionally put old license plate from one of my old trucks , proceeded to illinois scale on route 41 - same result

wi scale has same note on the door that they don't do voluntary inspections..

Have had my authority for 5 years now and have never been inspected, now that I have pre pass I get green lit at all but one scale out of the 8 I have passed since getting it
OldeSkool, 86scotty and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
Do you have direct customers or run brokered freight? It's hard to imagine you haven't heard about this if you don't deal with brokers. I started getting refused the day after I passed 2 years with no inspections. Overall though in 8 years I've only had one level 1 and probably only 2 or 3 other inspections.
I haven't had one at all since I started running a Prepass either.FloridaRetired and Siinman Thank this. -
