I think my air compressor is leaking oil. It’s not really leaking on the ground. I’m seeing some black oil under the compressor. Is it time to replace the air compressor? This is on a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia DD15. I don’t think the air compressor has ever been changed.

I know this is a very old post, but my compressor is wet with oil at this exact spot. I recently had the overhead run and this leak showed up a couple of days later. Did you ever determine what the issue was on yours?

Usually when it starts leaking like that, it is at the end of its life.Last edited: Dec 13, 2025

Get a new compressor sounds like the right plan.

Depending on mileage, the o-ring may have gotten hard allowing oil to leak.

I agree with 062. Is that the fuel pump mounted at the end? If so, maybe just a gasket or o ring.
