need advice on which company to go with. I left trucking 3 months ago for a job near my house. But I have decided to go to trucking after realizing that job didn't pay near what I was making on the road and being home all the time is overrated when you are barely scraping by.
I have narrowed it down to:
1.Western Flyer express: Pay & Truck amenities look good plus they have their below I-40 route. good now that it is wintertime
2. Millis: Southeastern Regional route. Slightly Higher pay but sparce truck amenities (TV and Sirius radio, but no fridge or microwave). Better hometime.
3. J&R schugel: Eastern 37 route. good pay but no truck amenities. Orientation in Atlanta. (I live in Birmingham.)
Also these 3 companies have ties to Texas, which I like because I want to move back there in 2026.
Back to trucking after 3 months. Which company?

I've always heard fairly good things about Schugel. Millis is now owned by Heartless.
JPStetson151 and firemedic2816 Thank this. -
I'll tell you what I would choose based on what you laid out, but that's based on whats important to me......which is lots of freight lanes and Schugel would be 1, and Western Flyer would be 2. So what matters to you most? Money? Hometime? Amenities? Western Flyer and Schugel pretty much go everywhere so I'm here for that. I'm an OTR guy thru and thru

Currently J&R Schugel driver my selfLonesome Thanks this.

Hometime is not my biggest concern, so if I am going to spend a lot of time in the truck, I want some amenities like at least a fridge. JR Schugel told me if I wanted a fridge, I could buy one from Walmart and they would install it.
That's why I am gravitating towards WFX, even though the pay is less than JRS. -
How is it? I was looking at the regional dry van.

I didn't know this when I applied. I might be taking them off the list.
What about Ozark or JM Bozeman? I applied to those, too. -
Bozeman looks the part. I'd be inclined to roll with them as compared to all the other companies. Nice running lanes, good equipment. I like the atmosphere of smaller companies too so that's why they'd go under deep considerations.Lonesome Thanks this.

Got a friend of a friend who likes Bozeman and has been there a few years, thats about all I know about them. As far as Ozark I talked to one of their drivers at the lovely Americold in Atlanta ga a few years ago. He had been with them about 8 years and was relatively pleased. I hear they run a lot of fed ex loads out of Memphis or something to that effect and do a lot of night driving..but you may have to check on that.bryan21384 and Lonesome Thank this.

I started on South East Regional, miles are good (I am home daily in Cincinnati) but never had a problem getting me home on weekends when I needed. Not having a fridge provided seems like a silly reason to go with a lesser paying job but that’s up to you, I have one of the oldest trucks in the fleet at 2021, they are big on safety and one thing that keeps a lot of people away is the inward facing cameras. They don’t bother me any but some people are hell bent on NEVER having a camera facing them.smokey12 and bryan21384 Thank this.
