Update on my job hunt

I last posted about an offer from HMD, and upon mulling it over and reading input from you guys, I’ve decided to pass on it. However, that wasn’t the end of the line. I know I’m still fairly new to the Class A gang, and I know I’m gonna have to pay my dues at a “starter company,” and I have decided to go with US Xpress. I’ve read the good, the bad, and otherwise as far as reviews from drivers, but after speaking with a recruiter, they offer what fits my needs at this point in time as far as miles, home time, etc., and there’s a terminal about an hour and a half from me in Dallas. I know I’m not gonna come in here and make a million dollars a year with any company, but they offered what I need. Man, so I was pretty much in the door, but I had a minor little accident back in 2022 when I was a Class B driver. Recruiter said everything was good and they were willing to accept it, but since the officer put failure to control speed (a generic catch-all for fender benders in East Texas), that I’m disqualified. It’s like I’m the guy in the Geico commercial trying to grab the dollar, and life is the old man with the fishing rod saying I almost had it Oh well, I just look at it like this: every opportunity that didn’t pan out is just one step closer to something greater than I could’ve imagined.

 

I was turning a trash truck in a cul-de-sac, probably going like 8mph and clipped a trailer that was illegally parked in the street. Dude got a ticket for city ordinance violation for parking it there, and they gave me failure to control speed. I have the report if you’d like to see it.

 

I’m thinking so. I’ll reach out to them again in the morning. Not as ideal a situation as USX would’ve been, but can’t be too picky.
