I've got roughly 600k miles of life left by that standard on this thing. I'll probably overhaul it and see what it does for mileage if I dont replace the truck.

They are replaced by complete factory remans, for simplicity and fuel economy reasons. I guess it helps uptime tremendously?RushmoreTrucker Thanks this.

I wonder how many states are like that now. (Indiana I know isn’t). it has to be titled before you can apply for an IRP account but not the other way around, which makes fine sense.
So how did you get it titled in MN not being a resident? (Sorry maybe you covered that already.) -
they have a B10 rating of 1,000,000 miles. However the one in my truck had a major overhaul done somewhere in the 850-900k range, but it was an old Millis Transfer company truck out of WI that likely idled too much and didn’t get the oil changed frequently enough. They are some guys that have 1.2+ without a major done. I think these started going in trucks around 2009 or 10.Lane=addict Thanks this.

In regard to dealers - I used the new Pete shop south of town the other day for windshields. They were not very busy, but seemed decent to deal with. I have no experience with them other than that and some parts purchases.Last edited: Dec 21, 2025
Lane=addict and Accidental Trucker Thank this. -
We used them a couple of years ago when they were just opened to fix a wiring issue on the EPU, and they were good to deal with and the tech was competent. I've got a harness break in the 2019 that I need to take in there and have them fix. Be nice to have the fuel gauge and dash lights working again..... lol.
Lane=addict and Oxbow Thank this. -
I can only speak as a driver, but i have read on forums people doing heavy haul with mx13 paccars only lasting 300k miles. They have fractured connecting rods which is odd as not many egines have that. I also find it fascinating paccar mx13 is the only pushrod diesel made for highway use.RushmoreTrucker, Oxbow and NorthEastTrucker Thank this.

No news is good news. Not much to say except I'm figuring out lanes.
I plan on a manual 13 or 18 swap eventually, at same time as HP rerate.
Gonna pay off truck in March.
Glory to LTL!
Truck loves running in the middle to high 70s. Best fuel economy I've had somehow. I can go as fast as is safe and legal efficiently.BoostedTeg Thanks this. -
I've heard from Kenworth shop guys that have seen it done that trying to manual swap an autoshift truck is not a great idea. Trading it in for a truck with a stick and a factory higher HP rating would be the smarter idea. Or just pay that one off and leave it alone as a backup truck after you've upgraded to something that's more what you really want.

I'm considering that, but looking at what's available, the cheapest way to get the truck I want (which is: good mileage and aerodynamic, winterised APU and bunk heater and all that stuff, runs happily at 85mph, has lots of life remaining for any price I pay for it) is to do a manual swap when/if this current automated transmission ever has a catastrophic failure.
I did a check of truckpaper and there's one truck sorta close to what I want, but it has a 13 instead of an 18 (not a huge deal honestly but I'd prefer an 18), it has an APU but not winterised and no bunk heater, has almost as many miles as mine but is $60,000 more expensive than what I paid for mine. If I ever own a hood truck, it'll be something old and reliable but not ridiculous. I ain't buying an emissions era hood and the power and transmission that would be ideal are most common on those.
If I get this done I'll get it done right. If the automated never gives out, oh well. But I tell ya hwhat, I ain't payin $30k+ to replace it if it fails with ANOTHER automated one. I've seen the trials and tribulations of somebody with a TX-18 here on the forum and I'm not interested anymore.
