So, this is just about the food? FWIW, I think most drivers would confirm that the food there ain't THAT big of a deal, and certainly was never the main draw. Especially if you end up parking in "the back 40" and have to hike 1/2 mile to get to the restaurant.
48Packard, bullhaulerswife, Numb and 2 others Thank this. -
30 years ago Iowa 80 was state of the art and had lots to offer. Food was excellent, a pub across the road. I was there occasionally as Iowa was on my weekly route

When I first went there in the mid 90s , the pub was called The Iowa Trucking Company Bar & Grill. It was located about where the truck stops 4 wheeler gas islands are at now. it was trucker themed inside and the bar had a grill from a W9 KW on the wall with beer taps coming out of it. The food there was really good too. The building was torn down during one of the Iowa 80's expansions the bar moved across the road into the Grammas Kitchen building and became the Checkered Flag Bar & Grill. still had good food the last time I was through there.

Never stopped there when I was driving. It’s not too far , was thinking about paying a visit.

Always kind of a neat place to stop at, but the one time I ate in the restaurant I came away far less than whelmed, let alone overwhelmed.
austinmike Thanks this.
