My son works nights at Walmart too and he hates it as well especially that cheer that they do. (which he doesn't) :biggrin_2559:

They do a cheer? You've got to be kidding? I know I'll regret it, but how does it go? :biggrin_2556:

I'll have to ask my son how it goes. But they want you to clap and be animated as they do it.

The only time I clapped & cheered for a company was when I owned it, but even then it was a 'in the mind' type deal.

I've heard rumors and even heard the sounds of the cheer from the backroom of wal-marts one night. I stood there and laughed, because at the end, they all went "YEA!!!!!!"

Forgive me for I have sinned, I hate mallwart, I wonder how much the Chinese charged for that. Wow, simply pathetic. I don't blame your son for not doing it, sounds like it's a bit embarrassing.:biggrin_2556:

They are not the only company to do such a thing. I don't know which business consultants have sold this "cheering" bill of goods, but it is obvious that they feel employees have too much of a sheep mentality. Supposedly (and I use that extremely loosely), it develops a team and loyalty dedication after doing it so often. I guess there are some folks that enjoy that atmosphere, but the majority I have talked with find it silly, juvenile, and an actual distraction to work expected. Most companies that utilize such tactics are normally lower paying firms that try to increase morale by means other than compensation. It is all hogwash and "make the executives feel good" crap.

I don't have a bad attitude toward business like the above post resembles, I am just very pragmatic and don't believe in a boss pointing at a cow and telling me it is a pig. To me that is a form of arrogance that I can just do without. Tell me what is expected, the compensation, and the tools to do it and let me worry about keeping my own morale high.

Oh yeah, they're not the only ones. The power company where I worked had a team of sheep that wanted to try that after one their "kaizons", I think that is how it's spelled. They really thought that everyone would climb on board. Funny how only the sheep/lemmings fell for it.

Some employers truly believe the parent/child type relationship is part of an acceptable model. And to think companies pay megabucks for these lofty programs.

LOL, bad attitude? Now I told you we sat on other sides of the table.:biggrin_2559:

OBTW, I DO agree with what you posted.

I think it's insane and I don't see the parallel of one being a good employee and doing that silly cheer. And at $7.95 an hour they don't pay enough for my son to do it.

I'm still satisfied with my choice to join SNI. I'm actually getting home more than I thought I would. Just listened to SNI update for drivers. Good to hear that SNI is going to do 401K match (they do it at the end of the year) and are reviewing the driver compensation. I figured out easy way of moving stuff into truck. I don't move a week of stuff in since I'm back at the yard on a daily basis. I keep stuff in my car and just bring a change of clothes (in case I get rain soaked) and a day or two of water/drinks. When I get back to the yard, I restock from my car. I don't bring my tools any more either. Net pay is still averaging around 625 a week whick considering the time off I get is not bad and it is more than I got at my last company.
