He's been driving for them for 2 yrs. There seems to be issues with 8 out of 10 loads he gets. It seems Stevens do not care for their drivers.
So, any companies in the Florida area hiring?
Thanks.

What area of Florida?

You will get MUCH BETTER suggestions to your query -- if you will provide a working FL zip code....

Don’t sound to me this kid is ever going to be happy. Let the kid be an adult and handle his own affairs. This saga with your kid is beginning to play like a reboot of Everybody Loves Raymond.
silverspur, Snyd, TexasRiverRat and 10 others Thank this. -
Where is your kid to ask questions?
I agree. Hand-holding in this business in any form needs to stop.Snyd, TexasRiverRat, 86scotty and 8 others Thank this. -
Stevens Transport is one of the better starter companies. Yeah, he as two years experience, but still, depends on if his domicile address is below or above Interstate 4.

South of I-4. And I am not actually holding his hand. He doesn't know I am on this forum. He handles all of this issues that come up. But he is frustrated about a few things, like layovers, wrong information from Stevens, and other issues that affect his miles. He is considering leaving Stevens.

Wrong info, layovers, detention, equipment breakdowns, etc… all part of trucking. It’s called suck it up sally. You have to put your big dog pants on, if you want to hang with the big dogs.
In other words, about the only thing he’s going to change is the color of the truck. There is no rainbow at the end of a freight haulers tunnel.austinmike, stacks, wis bang and 10 others Thank this. -
Your son has to be aware of what he is compensated for prior to signing on with any company. No pay for layover or detention, keep on walking
My last employer was horrible for maintenance to the point I had a spare assigned truck but they did compensate me for any delays including road closures, breakdowns, loading etc
They all claim top maintenance program so only talking with other drivers will reveal the truth -
South of I - 4?
2 years experience with Stevens?
Your son may well be happier pulling a totally different type of trailer -- & thus, working with a totally different type of clientele.
Have him fill out a job application with Indian River Transport -- & consider switching over to food-grade tanker work:

Indian River Transport is based mainly out of Winter Haven, FL -- with a fairly new terminal also up in Cordele, Ga....right off of the interstate.
There's also a whole Forum thread here on Indian River....done mostly by Indian River drivers....they seem pretty happy over there:
