I got level 3’ed in North Dakota about a month ago and that’s the first time I’d been bothered by anybody about anything in literally years. I can only remember one time getting level 1’ed…81 northbound in VA about 10 years ago. One time shortly after that EPA was sniffing tailpipes in NJ at the I-78 westbound scale house. That was interesting.

Problem is they can just decide to ignore anything you hand them and say I've never heard of it so here's a violation. Georgia trooper stopped me while oversize and was questioning why I wasn't taking half hour breaks the last couple days. When I explained the exemption to him and even showed him the letter from FMCSA and a copy on their website he just said I was lying because he'd never heard of it and wrote it up on the inspection. I was able to get it removed afterwards with a DataQ.

I could've made a bigger deal out of it but it wasn't worth the time to argue with someone who wasn't interested in listening on the side of the road.

This is from the FMCSA website. It says 2000 model year, not build date. If someone could share something different, I'd love to see

I have this special needs friend who knows to call at bad times. He interrupted my posting it, and then I forgot for an hour.

Take away is 6NZ is not an ELD exempt motor.

I think you’d really have to mess up to have them digging past what the tag on the engine says though. If they’re splitting hairs that deep I’m guessing a paper log is going to be the least of your worries. Lol

Rideandrepair, Bean Jr. and nikmirbre Thank this.
