You probably already know there's lots of newer, even some brand trucks out there with a 1999 stickers on the valve cover. I had a buddy who made a lot of money selling those stickers on ebay lol. Looked like the real thing he gave me a set for my 2003 - 14L Detroit.

Not sure about that, I would have to look it up. I always try to avoid bringing any unnecessary attention to myself by DOT. Some of them will jam you up for every little thing.

A perfect example is, i was stopped by Virginia DOT on I77. On my old reefer trailer, I had the bottom rail polished. The trailer had the small bullet lights, including a bullet light for the ABS light. When I got it polished, the ABS sticker next to the ABS light was removed. They banged me for the missing sticker on the inspection.

It's not. I've stopped putting them on. The last inspection I handed them the registration book which had the inspection opposite the cab card. No problems there.

I've heard that they don't work so well with early electronic motors, but they do work.

There’s no regulation saying the sticker(annual) needs to be on the vehicle. I do have a sticker but each time I’ve been inspected, they ask to show the sticker which I keep in my book

There are plenty of visual violations a keen DOT officer can see everyday just rolling down the highway on any truck these days. To be concerned about what is under the hood is a complete waste of ones time. Be more concerned about who's driving the thing.

My bucket of bolts was built in 94 and titled as a 95 after it was completed. Short vin # ending in GL. Engine is a 86 model, well at least the block is…..

They will just look at the year of the truck and not ask you any questions about the engine

I carry a copy of that. The way I interpret it, my Nov 99 built engine in my 2001 titled,(2000 build date) Truck is eld exempt. Law applies to build date of engine. Applies to Gliders, and original builds. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Anyone know how Samsura would work on my ddec 4? I’ve heard everything but the mileage records often used for ease of fuel tax reports. Easy enough to keep track of miles. Reason I’m asking is most Companies require eld compatibility. Considering Leasing onto the Company I’m currently driving for. They use Samsura.
