I have to kinda laugh (especially at Skunk). I too have gone back to companies I used to work for because the grass is never really greener on the other side. I had a good 6 months with FFE last year. I believe it's because after 12 years a few companies and time spent both working in the office and owning my own truck, it made me know how to "work it" at FFE. I only left because I was hired from another gas hauling company here at home.
I recently got the call from my old recruiter asking if I would want to come back. Before I could tell her I wasn't interested she went into how my old DM had told them I was one he would want back, I would get a new truck, I could get a raise based on my overall experience. I told her thanks, but I was very happy where I was and when she asked, and I told her why, she had nothing to say but "OK, thanks for your time."
If I was put in a position I needed a job and could not avoid going OTR (which I would rather be homeless than ever do again) I would go back. I was treated well there.
My FFE experience

FFE was the worst company I ever worked for!!! They could call me when I was on the unemployment line and I would refuse. Would make more money on unemployment. Gave me good mileage paid but no miles
-
Realy? The worst company? You must have been a complainer or refused loads.
-
never complained or ever refused 1 load. They just could not get me the miles. also have friends over there now that are leaving for the same reason. Once you get that little bitty pay raise wow then you lose your miles. so stay at .29 or .30 to keep your miles. and I also worked at some bottom feeder companies before but they were no where near as bad as FFE

Well, got everything settled and completed this morning. I'll be headed back out Sunday about 12:30. Talking with my recruiter this morning and she said, you know you'll be starting out at $.31 CPM. I was like huh? I was at $.32 when I left. She got to looking around and said she'll have a talk with payroll to get it cleared up and possibly may be raised to $.33.
The good thing is I don't have to fill out another application! They just wanted a fax of my current unemployment stretch and two people to vouch for it. -

Well I'm home. Got my truck. Had to sit and wait for it to go to the body shop to have the hood, repaired along with an entire new bumper including the metal plate and a new grill. I got an 08' A/E. Pretty decent shape. Had a little issue when I first got it. I started it up and ran it for about 20 minutes and it wouldn't build up any air so I couldn't even release the brakes. It pull's decent. First load was off the yard to Del Monte in Dallas (banna's) then shot over to VersaCold in Ft. Worth. Got stuck waiting for 8 hours to get loaded there then made it to Centerville, TX. where I had to shut down because my 14 hour clock was up even though I had plenty of hour's left out of my 11. Had to repower. Took a nap and got woke up at 02:30 to give the laod to another driver. Went back to bed and got woke up early by several phone call's from both customer's and I believe a load planner.
Customer's were asking where I was, told them what was going on and that I no longer had the load. Planner(?) asked if I knew where the guy was or how to get ahold of him and told her all I had for him was a name and truck number. I guess they got it figured out. Repowered a load and it was still late. Sheesh. Much less they couldn't find it. Sat at the Woody's truck stop and worked in a whole 34 hour restart with no trailer. Didn't have anything on my truck to do, not even a book so talk about bored out of my mind. By the way, Woody's has an awsome BBQ beef sandwich. Price is a bit high but it was slap your momma kinda good. Got up this morning with a preplan, hauled ### to Nestle in Ft. Worth, load was ready when I got there and isn't actually due until 05:30 tomorrow morning at the WMDC in Palestine, TX. but I got to drop it, and dead head home where I currently sit.
Oh, yea, who was on the yard during the tornado scare? Me and another guy that I was bunked up with at the hotel stood and watched 4 different tornado's try to form and was headed right for the terminal. I took several pictures with my phone. Wild indeed and to close for comfort.
Only 4 guy's including myself where hired in as experienced driver's and only two of us were rehires. One lady was sent home because she was too short and couldn't reach the pedal's in the truck. Another guy was sent home because he got his CDL at a school that has nothing but automatic trucks so he had no clue how to drive a stick. No to sound self centered or anything but I believe I did the best on the road test. Nice and smooth except I scratched a gear but it's an old worn out truck so nothing is perfect. The other guy's in the truck with slap sucked sorry to say and really needed to go out with a trainer. I think after the finished trainee's and us experienced driver's only 6 or 7 of us out of about 30 got key's to a truck. Every one else had to go out with a trainer. I also got the CPM thing fixed so I am at $.32Saddle Tramp Thanks this. -
whats your truck number? I'll keep a lookout for you. I'm 67080
-
98012. Your truck number is close to the same as I had at Prime. Just change the 8 to a 6 lol. Yea, ya can't miss me ol' boy. White Peterbilt hat, goatee, earing's, tattoo's, normally a black t-shirt and blue jeans, younger looking guy. Welp, was getting my duffle bag ready to go and loaded in the truck after spending the afternoon picking and deciding what I wanted to take on the truck getting ready to head out in the morning. Started it up, none of my gauges work, my dash light's don't work, A/C doesn't work, radio doesn't work, info bar (milage bar) on the dash doesn't work, driver side head light out passenger side tail light out so I called road service, they sent me to Freightliner here in Shreveport and just got back after driving across town to find out they were closed after being told they closed at midnight. So I might be stuck here for a bit. Get all dressed up and ready to go only to find problem's that are gonna keep me home. Aye.

when you show up you find out that it was cancelled.
