It is the trailer skirts according to a driver from Benny Whitehead Inc. Half of the trailers do not have skirts so Cali must want the bigger companies to do so first then smaller o/o's. Is it true Crete/Shaffer is going to Freightliner??? Heard that rumor from a driver Close to Blythe CA at a flying J.

Going to Frreightliner for what?
-
For trucks coming into fleet. Are they switching from prostars to cascadias???
KH -
I haven't heard that they will switch over completely. There is a big trust issue in regards to Freightliner and their customer service. It's what caused Crete to drop the Cascadia the first time around. From what i understand Navistar is giving Crete pretty awesome deals on the Prostar.Last edited: May 14, 2010

Talking with a couple of Crete drivers the weight of the Prostar is the issue, too heavy. Loads they used to pull with their old freightshakers are overweight when a Prostar pulls on the scales. They said that International are coming out with a light weight model.
The Challenger Thanks this. -
That may be true but the Cascadia's are much heavier than the Century's as well. The difference in weight between the Cascadia and the ProStar is not that great. At least not great enough to warrant a change.

I've heard that Crete likes the Prostars but International is having trouble keeping up with demand, so Crete is buying some more Cascadias to fill the void. I do know that when I got my truck last September there were nothing but new Prostars in Lincoln. My truck # is 333** and since then I've seen Cascadias with 34*** numbers so I know they're newer than mine.
Was in KCKS terminal last week and spoke to a Cascadia driver who was having all kinds of trouble with his brand new freightliner's battery apu. Whatever the reason, Crete is buying Freightliners again -
hey evertrucker,
could you please tell me if Crete hires teams? We are looking for a honest company for two good and experienced drivers. Also do they run all 48 states for team drivers?
What Hazmat materials do they haul?
Thanks for the information. It's so hard to find a honest company! -
I've heard that Freightliner tried playing hardball with Crete on pricing, which caused them to look closer at the Prostars. Evidently they like them as we keep on buying them.
Its good to spread those purchases around. Nothing like competition to keep things lively. -
Crete does hire teams and they do run all 48 just as the solo drivers do. From talking to the teams I have run into it is pretty hit and miss on the miles. If you want to run as hard as you can as a team on a consistent basis Crete is probably not the best choice.
