No kidding! The question isn't "who is good to work for in 2026" its "who even has work in 2026" and then an even more important question "will you get paid working for them in 2026". Daily stories out of Calgary and Edmonton, about companies not paying the drivers.

@TorontoTacos to the best of my knowledge, the companies who have work, and you will actually get paid working for them are as follows.

    XTL Transport
    J&R Hall
    TEAMS Transport
    Robert Transport

Not the best lineup, but no stories about pending bankruptcy, drivers not getting paid or forced team driving.

No idea about tankers or flatbed cause I'm not in those circles.

I know of two people right now at companies in Alberta that are looking for Class 1 drivers. Both solid companies. $100-140K per year hauling fuel, $100-160K per year hauling chemical. Both have a few positions available.

The sky is not falling here in Alberta. There’s simply not a huge demand for drivers in some segments of the industry. (Dry van / Reefer).

Was talking with a cattle hauler a while back, same deal. Going hard, lots of work. There’s work out there for those who want to do it.

They probably get a ton of applications, 99.5 percent they don’t want to hire. And I don’t blame them.

If you got that kind of cash sitting around, there are better investments than a truck.

Understanding that tariffs are real. Yes, exports in Canada have risen according to skewed news broadcasters throughout Canada more than alledged 12.5% to Non Usa Countries.
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canada-trade-oct-2025-9.7037913

However, down to the Usa but because of the mammoth size of the U.s. market there are tons of exports going to the Usa. But no one talks about the Imports & Provinces/Territories they're going too? Because Imports are down from the U.s.
    A.i. says this:
    • For the first eight months of 2025, total imports from the U.S. were about 0.5% lower compared to the same period in 2024.
Now, realize that the Canadian market only 11% of the U.s. market regarding consumption & before tariffs. 75% of Canadian exports went to the U.s. its a major risk especially depending on your location. Ontario, Quebec and Alberta are the Biggest markets then B.C., Manitoba then the maritime provinces. Believe me going to N.S. and NB paid $3.50 cpm plus in most cases but running back only 1/5 FL or 1/3 LTL lower than $2 cpm. My MC#/DOT# is the only thing that kept me close to balancing the books for loads going to the East coast like CT, NH, RI etc. Finding a reload from those states were 1 out of 3 if that all under $1.50 cpm or I'd simply deadhead back. Its terrible for most Canadian Carriers understand 15 trucks especially if their only operating the spot market. Yes, since the Driver Inc. Being investigated and the massive deportation has helped with Amazon Relay. But honestly, its not making up the loses last year. Owning a trucking now during these times especially a new truck will have to much overhead. If you put your truck on with a Company, they control your future on loads and give you the scraps. The profit margins are razer thin these days.
