When my wife rode with me I was asked a couple times by DOT what our relationship was. "Wife" satisfied all that asked. Most don't.

I always had the proper paper work with me too.

I think we forgot to mention somehing here.

Passengers have to be in the tractor. You are not allowed to have them in a van trailer. However, there are exemptions for using them to haul mexicans to fields.

I think there might be an exemption for the wife, too, if she's been nagging you too much and it is distracting you from your driving.:biggrin_2559:

    hahahahahahahahahaha...

For that mexican exemption, iirc the main requirement was that they can get out from the inside and that its not freezing cold in there...and that you dont poison them....

There is an exception to allow passengers to be in the trailer for horse haulers while going down the road, to attend to the horses. I don't think that the person has to be Mexican!:biggrin_25525:

That's true, hauled horses for years and you could have riders in back with the horses. It can get a little hairy if one throws a fit not much room to get away. Much better to be the driver.

    73 Mexicans found in trailer

    (June 6, 2009)
Border Patrol agents discovered 73 illegal Mexican immigrants crammed in the back of a tractor trailer over the weekend, when the truck stopped for inspection at the Pine Valley checkpoint on Interstate 8.
