Get a Michelin Advantage Account. They're about 720$ right now. Your tires are your problem.
I get 100k out of Michelins, while changing them at 10/32" and running way too fast around the twisties out west.
Tire wear question, shoulder wear on steer tires.

So when you got that kind of mileage it was with that same brand of tire?
One thing to remember is that tire quality does not stay the same just because the name stays the same. We used to sell auto tires called Michelin Harmony. They were rated for 80,000 miles and they would do it. There were some that got more like 100,000 out of a set. As far as I know now, although I’ve been out of the auto tire loop for a while, the best Michelin auto tire you can get is the Michelin Defender rated for 60,000 miles. I’ve had a set and they didn’t make it that long. Just because a brand used to be quality doesn’t mean they continue to be.
Edit: so I looked up Michelin and I see they now make a Pilot Sport. Idk anything about them. Defender was the best when I was selling them and quality wasn’t that great anymore. -
I only run name brand on my tractor. I used to run cheap tires on my closed tandem reefer, but now that I have a spread reefer i prefer Continentals.
Some of the Chinese tires are out of round and don't wear normally. Usually, tires wearing on both outer edges if from under inflation. -
I new as soon as I said I wasn't running Michelin's this thread would devulge into, it's the tyres. Oh well, I ain't running Michelin's, guess this thread is dead in the water.
Thanks anyway -
It used to take about 150k for the same amount of wear (same wear pattern) now it's down to about 75k. Exact same tires.
I am 100% sure it's in the steering, but anyway, now I have said I run Chinese, this thread won't have anything but, change to Michelin's....
Oh wellOldeSkool and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
You should’ve added a disclaimer…..

OldeSkool Thanks this. -
Well you could change shocks and leaf spring bushings. Those can cause tire wear and tend not to show up in a standard front end check. Kind of a guessing game sounds like.Arctic_fox Thanks this.

i have also had worn leafsprings cause the issue. The ones on my pete were so worn that when they got them off. I stood on the springs....and they didnt spring back just stayed flat until you whacked them on the ground.OldeSkool Thanks this.

Everyone I know that runs cheap tires tells me how they used to last 150k on steer and 300k on drives.
I've been around a lot of tires, and haven’t seen quite that luck.
They all also say they'd run a good tire if they're front end, or drives, or trailer weren't ####ed up.
None of them have run a good tire.
Sorry your thead didn't get the response you wanted, maybe @Diesel Dave still has that meme to throw in hereLast edited: Jan 17, 2026
OldeSkool and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
Check your suspension, would start with shocks they are the easiest, leaf spring bushings would be next, if they are worn and allowing the spring to pivot this can cause some weird ware. And like said before springs themselves
OldeSkool Thanks this.
