    Baritone-
Rooster is pretty much on point about all that Millis stuff. The second 2500 is called a "training fee" and if you quit before your year is up you owe them that plus whatever you still owe from the original 2500. Not sure where, but the 18% finance feel comes in to play there somewhere. One nice thing was they will also finance your hotel and money for food. Then again that may not be a "good" thing. lol
I will say from what I've learned about Roehl is in the end it will be better. Just hope some of the bad stories are just not the way all things are done at Roehl. It says that Roehl will actually give you money toward what you spent for school back after a certain point. I'm really wanting to hit the flatbeds as well so really Millis just pushed me where I wanted to really be.

Rotax it will be cool to have a "familiar" face (so to speak) in the training with you.

Every company has "their" issues and funny things they require/do related to training and the cost. I know for a fact that if you stay with Millis for 1 year from training - your costs are waived completely. The interest only plays into the process if you leave before the 1 year - they will then charge you interest.

Like I said - they have upside and down side. I'll know more starting tomorrow when I head for Cartersville. I'll keep you all posted and I wish you both the best at Roehl.

Maybe one day soon we all will meet up at a delivery point or t/s and we can truly compare! Until then - please keep me posted on things with you both.

From all the research I did it said that you still are paying the original 2500 back. The 2500 for the trainer is what they "wave" you still make payments till the 1st 2500 (well 2000 because of 500 up front) back until they are paid. That was the way I understood it.
Will do on the keeping you posted.

    Good luck to you!

I went through MTI back in Sep. of 08. stayed with Millis Transfer untill Jan. of this year, and THEY fired me, I did not quit. Millis sent me a letter 2 weeks after they fired me saying I still owed them $1,000 because of training purposes. Please read everything through carefully. When I received the letter i called Mike Millis himself and told thm to take me to court, have'nt heard anything since. Also sommething to think about. Millis is going to paperless logs. They are installing them in there trucks now. The reason for this is because of that accident on I-90 in New York State where the truck driver was watching a porn movie while driving. The scary thing was he was one of there best trainer driivers. Other than all that, watch how you apply those brakes, those bulkheads are'nt very strong.

Millis is heading downhill faster than their 66MPH Georgia overdrives can take them. Many many priveleges have been taken away in the last two years... top speed lowered from 72 to 66 and electronic logs mandated just to name a few. Maybe that doesn't mean much to you newbies, but how would you like to be a veteran driver who worked your hind end of here for years, only to be slapped in the face due to someone else's mistakes. On top of it lose $200 to $400 per week due to the electronic spyware.

Now rumor has it they are telling drivers they may give back some of these priveleges, whatever they might be. Even if they raise the top speed back to 72 MPH, it won't do much good with elogs. They have become too big, and bent over for the government and insurance companies, and a couple more bad wrecks and they will be part of the 62 MPH slow lane WI gang with Roehl.

Oh forgot to mention their veteran drivers are running from Millis in droves, "out with the old, in with the brainwashed drones" seems to be the new motto here.
