I'm not 100% certain but I believe BC does now check that the emissions systems aren't altered on their MVI's. I'll try and remember to ask a buddy of mine out there about that.

Ah, I didn't know about differences between provinces. No issue in Alberta though, right?D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

As far as I know Alberta isn't checking but things change quickly. A shift in government can change a lot of things.

And yet we're being nickled & dimed to death in red states.RushmoreTrucker and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

my understanding is that the EU OTR engines are either zero EGR, or very close to zero. That reduces complexity a great deal and should extend engine life accordingly.
to @Oxbow ’s point, if you add the additional purchase cost, the additional down time and repair cost, the expense of DEF, the additional fuel burned and the costs associated with the reduced longevity of trucks with emissions since 2010, I have a dollar that says operating cost per mile close to doubled because of emissions.Feedman, D.Tibbitt, Diesel Dave and 3 others Thank this. -
What does that mean?

The company that does the service has some sort of fluid to “wash” the SCR unit. It is in some sort of machine. The put the SCR unit in it and run the system. Several hours later is all clean and ready to go. Almost as good as a new one.

C.A.R.B. was setup again at the Tulare Rest Area on SR99. They have a sniffer setup as you enter. All the trucks they had pulled for inspection were classic style trucks that were either deleted or non-emission. They're not going anywhere.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
