Context:
Actually Solomon, in this chapter is addressing leaders. But yes anyone is susceptible to pride. This verse is pointing out anyone high minded or thinks they are self-sufficient. Thus, disregarding a need for God. The verse, in turn, is cultivating a humble spirit.D.Tibbitt, Cdemars316, Sons Hero and 2 others Thank this. -
Nah. I just run them down until they stop spinning. Maybe give it a few extra hits. Never had one loosen up yet. I supposed I could carry my big extendable ratchet and grab a digital torque adapter. Then again I've never seen a tire guy drag out a torque wrench on the side of the road.
I will add that if I change a tire myself I will usually stop within the next hour and hit all the lugs again just to make sure and then probably a final time that night when I park.
Also my spare rims aren't in nearly as good of condition as the normal ones so they are getting swapped back as soon as I get home. Can't be having a chewed up unpolished rim next to 2 shiny ones.D.Tibbitt, Sons Hero, ElmerFudpucker and 2 others Thank this. -
We never torqued our wheels for dad, and I never have for myself. Run them tight, then give them all an extra hit. We’ve never had an issueD.Tibbitt, Razororange, lester and 1 other person Thank this.

Light trailer wheel, and a novice put it on. (Or it’s forevermore overloaded. We may or may not have had some studs snap, on a 14’ dump, trailer, when we were only gonna make one trip. Never lost a wheel, just whacked the studs out and put new in at the shop.) Those studs are substantially smaller and lighter than anything you’d see on a CMV. I have a brother-in-law that insists that we’re nuts for not torquing our wheels, but he’s lost several, not that they flew off, but they wobbled and trashed the hub, and I’ve never lost one. So I still trust my way further than his lol.D.Tibbitt, Razororange and Oxbow Thank this.

3 ugga-duggas is good enough.

What causes wheels to come loose is being crooked and in a bind. (Filter has me blocked) then when you start down the road they get out of that bind and become straight. Which makes them extremely loose on one side. That’s the purpose for a retorque. So long as your sure your flush all way around no dirt etc between the wheels your ok even if they are a little under torque specs.

I've been around big trucks 25+ years and I've never seen a torque wrench used on tires at a shop. When I started using a 1/2" drive Milwaukee impact i did check the torque with my big torque wrench and it was always tight enoughD.Tibbitt, Diesel Dave, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this.

Id say its not so much getting them loose but getting them too tight... Lots of shops ram them on with a 1 inch gun and send it to the moon. Then guys wonder why the studs stretch and get broken...
