Be leery of walking behind the trailers on the rear row at truck stops. Especially near dark. Easy prey for any undesirables out there. Just stay aware of thing's going on around you as you walk.

I actually have a set of adjustable dumbbells in my truck. Depending on who you drive for that may not be an option due to weight concerns, but I've seen drivers literally twice my size who have their big old sow of a wife with them, so I don't worry about it too much.

I walk all the time in the middle of the night at truck stops...Keep your head on a swivel for trucks and sketchy people...You should be fine at most truck stops...Only ones I have decided to not walk at night are the West Memphis truckstops and the FJ in Gary IN...We had a driver stabbed to death in his cab there (in Gary) so I don't feel comfortable there and it's kind of not well lit....Watch out for pot holes or uneven pavement...You don't want to twist an ankle....Get yourself a couple of $20 truck stop knives and keep one in each pocket for protection,
