    Yes, you have to put the center hooks in place before loading, but I don’t strap until done, unless I’m doing a belly strap part way up the stack.
    The hooks are J shaped, and to put them in you lay them down on the trailer deck, then as you rotate them into the upright position the bottom of the J hooks under the lip on the track. You want them pointing at the side the winch is on, because if you try to pull them past 90°, something will break.

    Yes, it does. I have a dozen or so j-hooks for our Reitnouer, and it has the center gooves as well, but I haven't used the center grooves at all. We don't haul much, but I do use them for tying down logs when we have our bunks on.

    I don't think so because I went through that intersection around 2 and there was no damage anywhere. I'm guessing that happened around the HEB on Hwy 90.
