Kinda like that. There are a bunch of modules assembled together that make the rig operational. With everything in place, it's over 10 million lbs of iron. Largest land based drilling rig on the planet. Built in Nisku Alberta in 2019 and trucked up to Prudhoe in 270 truck loads. Google Doyon 26.

No sir. Lynden did it.

 

Ran into an old fella last July that was driving this Lynden rig to Juneau. He was getting on a barge in Haines to go to some kind of corporate event with it. He was 93 years old and was the original driver of the truck. Was awesome to talk to the old fella, can't imagine the things he's seen. There were 2 of them team driving it. One fella was quite a bit younger, but still like 70s maybe.

First saw it in Beaver Creek Yukon, but didn't get close to check it out before he left.

 

Then saw it again in Destruction Bay, the alternator had failed and they were fixing it. Got to have a good look and grabbed a few pics.

 

Here it is on the Alaska Highway in the 60's.

The coolest! Was such a pleasure to talk to that old fella. The third time we saw the truck was in Haines as he was waiting to get on the barge. They were staying in the same hotel we were, got to talk to them over breakfast and got the full rundown.
