Parking at Truck Stops

Hasn't truck parking always been like this? It's worse now for sure. Lack of parking wasted so much of my time and the missed meals and showers and lack of sleep due to the problem. It's a major reason I went into LTL trucking. I drive linelhaul, leave the yard and come back to the yard. I always have free assigned parking, a hot meal, shower, and lady waiting for me when I get back every day.

 

More and more companies are going to electronic logs. If you think parking is a pain now, wait til over half of the drivers are on these logs.

I usually can find parking, but if it's late at night, I know better than to try a big name t/s. I'll go to the mom n pop place a few miles down the road. We used to be able to park in more obscure areas like roadside parks, grocery store parking lots, etc. Unfortunately, there are some among us (you know who you are) who pee on the ground and throw their trash around. The owners of these private parking lots have barred us as a result of the stench and mess.

 

Parking isn't near the problem it was 3 years ago. With the weak economy, there simply isn't near as many trucks on the road as there was back then. A lot of drivers just simply got out of the business, and a lot of companies have folded.

There are still some problem areas on the east coast, but it's no where near as bad as it was.

 

Hi, i seen most super truckers are in the parking by 3 pm, so they get there baby naps in , then by 5 pm go inside and play on the arcade till wee hours of morning, then next morning as you go in , ask you for a handout, cause there maxed out on there advances, but then i seen some that wadeel too the door like 300 plus pounds and they need too park in the back and walk it it off, i can understand parking in up front , one is your shop was or going in the shop there,waiting in line too be fix and they dont like too walk ether , most are mostly greasy ,slimmy pigs and dont care if they get that axel grease all over seat or not, had one got it on my seat and all over my divder curtian even, yup thay detail my truck , i was a little mad that day,next would be the wi-fi, myself i just park out back in the gravel , much cooler anyway , then all that pavement radiant up into my truck, only other problem , once out back, you subject too all the lot lizards that come around after dark, i try like heck, if they let me , is just camp out at the shippers or rec , and when i need a shower i just go find a parking spot and be down the road too the shipper anyway, fuil and shower done in 2 and half hours ,tops, Everett.
