To be honest you sound like the dangerous one on the road. You sound like you have road rage syndrom. You should never want to fight over someone tail gating you! I am sorry, you just ignore him/her and go on! It might save your life one day by doing that. Anymore today people shoot people over that stuff and I am sorry, I would rather not die over road rage.

I do understand again about tail gaters! I just let them tail gate me and if I am going as fast as I can/want to and they can go around and if they don't I just keep driving as normal. If you are on the interstate going 50 mph you kind of deserve to be tailgated.
Again I only drive the 4 wheel and I know I hate truck drivers tail gaiting me and I know some do as some 4 wheelers do! I won't slow down so the chance being they hit me and I get killed (unfortunately my kids would go nuts without me). I also don't want to be shot or my self kicked over it either. I also wouldn't want to spend time in jail over that situation! I know in Indiana we have the "road rage" law!

If you move out of the way then you wouldn't have to worry about being tailgated would you? Flashing is a polite way of saying "I need to pass so please move over". You obviously have no clue how traffic works and may need some therapy. The best way to DEFEND yourself when someone flashes you is to move the heck out of the way. The jerks that hog the left and middle lanes and can't go with the flow of traffic are the real contributors to accidents since it increases gridlock and causes faster traffic to weave in and out of lanes. All of this nonsense could be avoided if SLOWER TRAFFIC MOVED RIGHT. The concept is very simple. DO NOT drive the same speed as the car in the lane next to you. DUH! I think we have a troll here.

Some day they will. But it aint the speed, in my oppion that kills ya. It's ot paying attention. You can kill someone just as easily going 5mph while backing up and not looking as you could going 72 forward and not paying attention.

Ok: The other day I was trying to remember 10 years ago (god help you all now, I am remembering) and we had about 250 drivers, I rarely heard of any of them drivers getting in an accident and dieing or someone else getting killed. That was 10 years ago! What has changed since then?

    1) Speed limit: Most states has upped their speed limits. I wonder how many accidents there are in Illinois compared to the rest of the world?

    2) Log Regulations have changed

I am wondering now if the "speed Limit" could be the factor and crazy drivers out there of many of these accidents?

This is a subject in itself I think, but talking about speeding, I WONDER, if this is the cause of more accidents. Like someone said if the speed limit is 75, every one thinks ok I can go 80, if they make it 80 they think they can go 85.
EVERYONE SPEEDS, SO I think we should lower the speed limits to 60 on interstates nation wide! Boy are you all going to hate my idea, OOOPPSS! But that means you can drive 60 in any state! Just a thought!

Don't you notice the extra traffic and gridlock in cities that have 60mph limits?
What is wrong with 85 anyway? Higher speeds actually lead to less congestion and the chances for accidents are reduced. Too many people buy into the "speed kills" mantra. Just look at the autobahn in Germany where drivers are trained to scan their mirrors and move over immediately for faster traffic. The same thing can be done on the roads here but revenue enhancement is more of a priority.

NO I don't notice that because I am not a driver "unfortunately".
Well again maybe they should do surveys of vehicles traveled on the roads versuse speed limit versus 4 wheeler & 18 Wheeler accident.

You don't have to be a truck driver to notice the extra traffic in bigger cities when everyone is moving at slow speeds. Actually I am not against split speed limits as they do help separate the car and truck traffic. I am however, against arbitrary slow speed limits that are posted way below what can be driven safely for the purpose of extra revenue in the name of safety. The best way to reduce car/truck crashes is to keep the two as separate as possible. In other words, cars need to pass a truck quickly and not ride alongside a truck in the left lane, even if they claim to be going the speed limit,as many ignorant left lane hogs do. Trucks need to do their part in passing quickly and moving right also, which speed governors help prevent.Just take a drive out in the country and you will notice that the faster everyone is traveling the less traffic and congestion there is on the road.

I have driven over there. One thing to remember their roads are in far better shape than ours. Their rules are totally different, the merging traffic does not yield the flow of traffic does. Their headlights are much better and brighter than ours. When they have a wreck it is really bad. I have had cars pass me that I did not even know what color they were.

There are still 'stretches' that have 'No speed limit,' and the concrete is almost twice as thick as the U.S. (21" vs. 11" here). But many areas, esp. near the larger cities, do have speed limits. And as the monkey says, I have seen some really bad wrecks on the Autobahn---mangled bodies laying 'all over' the Hwy!! Years ago (1970's), I saw a stat that with a population of 70 Million (U.S. at that time was over 200 Million), Germany (West at that time) had an equal hwy mortality rate as the U.S. It has improved withing the past 10 yrs...dont know the stats..?

BTW, I know that out west in the land of a 'million' RV's, these RV's that drive 62-64 mph are 'MY nemesis' to this 66 mph govd truck! Everybody wants to pass them and the hammer lane is always jammed in stretches like Tucson-Phx!! The vehicles w/travel trailers and 5th wheel trailers are really underpowered and somewhat 'unsafe' by drivers with the classic 'box-of-cereal-prize' class D license!! Apparently, their record in regards to being (NOT causing!) in accidents must be acceptable since DOT's are not after them??!!

In a democracy the people, through their elected representatives, decide what the speed limit is. Our government is us. We deserve what we put up with. If you want no speed limits on trucks, then convince the people and change the law. Good luck.

As to your unlawful tailgaiting technique, I thank you for admiting it. This is the type of road extortion that 4 wheelers hate, and results in stiffer regulations.
