I'm like two stout Rye Whiskey's into this evening, so If I have asked you this before forgive me: Are you close to Brooks? My aunt (Dad's sister) Chris Stark, or Chris Dunsmore, used to be the mayor of Brooks. This would have been in the 90s as best I recall. She married late in life to Max Dunsmore, who had a drag-line business in Brooks. Aside from being Mayor she was in the insurance business.

 

40 min south on hwy 36. I know of Dunsmore...Eugene n his boys.

 

I never got to know Uncle Max's family at all, but I sure thought the world of him. If you run into them and remember you might ask if there was a Max in the family that ran drag lines. I think he might have done a lot of canal work. He told me I was stupid for pursuing trucking and dirt work. He was right!
