Shop says backorder on parts & having to sit while warranty work?

If you haven’t even noticed the oil leak, I wouldn’t let the dealer get their greasy paws on it. You start losing a gallon a week, you have a problem, but if you have to LOOK for the leak, it isn’t worth fiddling with. Ever see the ground under an old Detroit? Thats what oil leaks look like, and they will run forever like that

 

I'll throw this in. You DO want a shop to look at these things and let you know what's going on.

One of my pet peeves is that at most shops, the least experienced guy in the shop is the one servicing the truck. At best, you get your oil changed correctly and no valuable info.

A good PM has to have experienced eyes.

I'd take a close look at that leakwith your owneyes. And as always, POST PICS of the problem.

My friend u can replace these with a basic set of tools and 10 minutes of your time...theres no reason to have a shop do this stuff.

 

Ask yourself this. If you arent using any oil, and a "mechanic" tells you you have an oil leak that you cant see with your own eyes and doesnt show it to you.. what do you think is going on here? The dealerships always say there is something else wrong with ur truck because thats how they make money. If theres no oil dripping on the ground and you cant see it with your eyes. There is no leak...besides thats a weird place for oil to leak anyways. You really need to start thinking for yourself or these shops are just going to bend you over dry.

Not throwing shade, but drivers just take it to the shop. @AFC still acting like a driver.

 

Set your phone to take a selfie, or look in over the fuel tanks, and try to get pics of the back of the head.

I don't see anything with those pics.

 

Whered the tech say the leak was at? I dont think theres anything oil related on the intake side of the engine...the cummins like to leak behind the gear cover housing on earlier models.. Dont know if they fixed it on x15 or not.. so if u find oil leaking up front behind air compressor or fuel pump thats probably what it is. On your exhaust side is where most your oil stuff is and if there is a leak it probably be over there.. another place to watch on those cummins is all the banjo bolt fittings for your fuel lines and oil lines. I have had fuel leaking out of one before and it made it look like there was an oil leak somewhere, because fuel drips out and dissolves the grease and grime and drips black spots on the ground.

 

I don't understand, a shop tells you that you have a oil leak that will cost time and money to fix and you didn't ask them to show it to you?
