I never did, unless it was required, but then again, I'm not inconsiderate enough to not look ahead if I need to and give a call. What I did do, is call ahead or ask the agent if they knew, if I could park on property at the receiver so I could know whether or not I needed to stop earlier somewhere to avoid having such a situation arise. Pretty much, the info I got always had the load/unload times on it, and it was incumbent on me to plan accordingly. What I hated most, was brokers calling me to get updates. They worked 9-5 or so, I don't. They'd usually call when I was asleep and would get no answer or a very rude one. :)

Unfortunately, legally, it was the the flatbed dually at fault here, because it is their responsiblity to be able to merge with traffic safely...and if they can't they are not supposed to initiate the move. It's the same with a left turn. If you can't make it safely, you're not supposed to make the attempt. Either way, both were screwed, and MAYBE, the truck driver if he knew the rest area was ahead filled with dunderheads who don't know how to drive, it would have behooved him to move to the other lane to allow for a dumb merger driver, unless it's prohibited for the truck to be in the left lane.

Place been open since last April from what I was told. Very clean, store opens at 5:00 AM and usually has breakfast sandwiches ready at that time. People are friendly as well, I’ll definitely stop here when I come through this way…..
