Still wondering how much to use for the 17 gallon systemCarpenter Scotty Thanks this.

A modern dishwasher uses a bit over 6 gallons with wash and rinse. 3 or 4 tabs(for heavily soiled dishes
) should keep the concentration the same as the dishwasher. I’m not as knowledgeable as these other folks as to how much stronger than that you could go though.

Here’s what I do I do cascade tabs with water. Start it let it run get to temp. Drain and do it again twice or 3 times. After that I drain and refill with the water hose stuck in cap with plug out if bottom hose. I regulate the water with the faucet so it stays full but doesn’t run over. I walk off and let it run for an hour that way. The thermostat won’t open but that’s fine you still have flow.

The first round load her up. 10-12 then start dialing them back. The final flush will get rid of any extra soap so don’t be shy
Run time with hot water is the key. It sometimes takes me 1/2 a day to get one flushedLast edited: Feb 4, 2026

All that is good! Anymore I plumb a hot water pressure washer right into the side of the block. Open a block and radiator drain. Leave the radiator cap off with the engine running. Disable the fan. That will flush your bubbles out and help with the oil.
