This exactly. One thing you can’t get back is time. My kid needs me there, not working harder and not smarter, being away from home every second.

I’ve got a basic philosophy I try to live by. Live so that when you’re 80 years old in a nursing home, you’ll look back on your life and have no regrets. I know I’ll have some regrets, but I don’t think running local and being home every day with my kids and wife will ever be one of them.

A lot of people just don’t listen to the older folks. I can sometimes understand when you get bad info, but overall, every older person in my life shared their wisdom and life experiences. Most every one of them told me to make sure I spend time with my kids…as they grow up fast. They aren’t lying. . I listened closely. I’m grateful for my father. He told me to secure a retirement before I get into trucking, and to not leave empty handed. I have 2 that I am vested in.
