Is there air going to that chamber? Take the air line loose and see if any air comes out? It's a push connect fitting. Usually pretty easy to take out. But I would assume if one side is getting air the other side would too.
Shop says backorder on parts & having to sit while warranty work?

if the other pin will release - I would stretch the trailer all the way open and then recloae the trailer to try and get the trailer out of a bind.
If you have access to a forklift, you can try to lift the deck to get it out of the bind. It is unlikely that you bent it bad enough to #### it.
if you have access to another set of hands - you can try rocking the trailer a little while the trailer brakes are set - the second guy can lightly tap on the pin at the same time.
thise are you options at this point. I would check to make sure you have air to the chamber as wellSiinman, AFC, Diesel Dave and 6 others Thank this. -
In this picture it looks like the pin might be slightly tilted. You can see the rust/wear marks in the grease/paint where the pin normally sits circled. I would try tapping the pin where the yellow arrow is to see if you can line it back up. It almost looks like it may have been pulled out too far.
I've never seen mine extend far enough to where the bar comes out of the end of the pin.
Here's a picture I took of my step. It uses the same mechanism for the pins.

Is there only the spring in the can that holds it closed? Looks as if maybe a spring from the frame somewhere might be missing/broken?Last edited: Feb 6, 2026

Nope. Just the single pancake chamber. Air pops the pin out and the spring inside pushes it back in. Its really easy to jump the holes in the inner frame trying to line it up. On my stretch trailers I have lines painted on top of the inner frame that line up with the rear edge of the main deck to help line up the pin holes underneath.
That how XL does it at least.
My stretch RGN is a Trail King and instead of the lever system XL uses they have the pin mounted straight to the chamber and the push rod is hard mounted to the trailer. Apply air and the whole chamber moves and pulls the pin with it. It also has a safety pin on each side to make sure it can't back out.Last edited: Feb 6, 2026
Gatordude, Albertaflatbed, Feedman and 3 others Thank this. -
No. The arm that opens and closes the pin won’t budge. That why I think it’s the air mechanism

I think the can is the only mechanism that keeps it closed. I would have to thoroughly look at the one that is functioning properly to see if anything is missing.Oxbow Thanks this.

How would you know if it’s the chamber that is faulty?

I will check when I get my truck back and air up the trailer.
