Shop says backorder on parts & having to sit while warranty work?

When I pulled flatbed my boss would give anyone a chance. He’d rather hire someone who never pulled flats before so he could teach them how he wanted things done versus trying to correct someone’s 20 years of shortcuts and bad habits. He hire a guy that was 22 at the time, eager as all get out to pull flatbed. He asked questions and listened. He tried to do things correctly. He made mistakes, we all have, but he learned from them and Cliff kept him around. I think he was there 5 or 6 years total before he got married and wanted a local job.

One thing I remember Cliff saying was “He makes every mistake someone can make, but he never makes the same mistake twice.” and that says a lot about someone and their willingness to work and learn and better themselves.

Sort of reminds me of this thread. He makes mistakes, but he owns them and takes responsibility, and learns and moves on. He’s not here every week doing the same thing over and over again.

 

DD16 far better reliability than a Cummins and will walk the dog.

 

And I will put a stock DD16 up against a stock C16. It’ll give it a run for its money. Especially if you keep it twisted up to 1800 rpm

 

Everyone here told him to not go forward with the cylinder leak scam. And he did the opposite. I wouldn't call that learning.

 

Why didn't you go there to see "the damage" by yourself? That's why they have this "service special".

You had a small oil seep... not really a head gasket failure. When the head gasket fails in a Cummins you will be pressurizing the cooling system and then yes dropped liners and a full rebuild would be in order. That is not your issue. You had a seep, minor one at that
