Both commutes are too long (for home daily gigs); they will chew you up & spit you back out...

Yeah , tough situation. I have 3 years yard driver experience but just got my cdl . A lot of places won’t even consider me , gotta just do what I can without going otr for a mega for pennies . I’ve applied to literally 25+ companies and it’s the same situation once they see I have a new cdl no matter how well I can back up / move a trailer etc they can’t take me due to insurance, so they say .

Most people have to commute for those local jobs. So many of them are in major cities. When I worked for 7up Snapple(now Keurig Dr. Pepper), that was 48 miles to work, 48 miles back. .Murfreesboro to the north of Nashville, Goodlettsville to be exact everyday. Getting there wasn't an issue. Getting home was something different, painfully different.

Had an hour & five minute commute to work for 8 years while working local. That’s life, if you’re making good money go for it

Pepsi and McClane have the contact info for lots of Pepsi and McClane drivers, why not ask each company to have drivers on those accounts call you? Look where the info is located not just where you want to look.

I ran ramps and was a trainer for a McClane sister company. I made it 4yrs, before it took a toll on my body. I was running every available load, on two paper logs, back then. At 5yrs, I had five procedures done. I sacrificed my body for a paycheck. I’ll gladly give up the paychecks to get my health back. No one lasts in those positions, which is why they pay what they do. You think you’re tough, but, that job eventually WILL conquer your body, regardless of your mind. No one escapes. I promise.

Go Pepsi, if it’s not too late.

I didn’t read you were out of shape overweight. I know foodservice can wear on the body. But just driving all night doing drop and hooks can do more damage also cause you’ll be packing on the weight. Especially when you have a 1 hr commute. Most people won’t go workout with burning 2 hrs a day in a commute. Especially truck drivers. Mclane may be better for your health and you don’t have to worry about working out cause you’re doing it at work. You don’t have to make a career out of it but maybe to get you back into shape while making good money. I went back to Foodservice at 40 years old. Then you can find something closer and drop and hook. In my area it’s an average of a 30 min commute. Unless you live near the yard which is generally ghetto. Been doing that for years.

Because chances of them passing your number along are slim and none. If by chance they do pass your info along, you’re just going to get a couple phone calls from a couple company ### suckers. So make sure to offer each caller a Dude wipe & a breath mint

Thanks again for all the input to everyone .
I spoke with the Pepsi transport manager she gave me her personal number and added she’d love to have me and will keep my application current . She advised I could call her and get a job at Pepsi if Mclane doesn’t work out. So I’m doing training etc for McLane will give it a go and worst case I’ll be back to applying / calling her or others for work .
And I agree I could use a work out it’ll help in the long run regardless . Thanks again
