Ok, not sure if I'm following here. In that first highlighted sentence, you say the damaged wood and shock absorber were the only damage that you had seen since the incidents. Then, in the second highlighted sentence, you say you extended it and could lock it before picking up the load, and then the third sentence you say it wouldn't lock after the vehicle had been dropped 2 times.
It was ok before, not ok after. Sounds like while it was extended, the frame, or something, could have gotten bent? That's a lot of weight to be dropping onto a trailer, much less twice, regardless of how high it was.
Anyway, I'm out, like I said, don't mean to muddy up the waters, just a thought I wanted to pass on.
Shop says backorder on parts & having to sit while warranty work?

The pin will come out if you can get the bar out of the way. I don't think you need to pull it out though unless you just want to clean it off and re grease it.
I still think its just wedged in the hole in the outside rail or the trailer. This is based on 13 years of dealing with sticky pins in stretch trailers. Old or new they all get stuck sometimes.
As they get older and especially without being greased properly the hole in the side of the trailer and the pin can wear on each other allowing more slop than needed. As they get more worn they get stuck more. The chamber just doesn't have enough spring pressure to force the pin back in.
I said it a while ago I still think you need to at least get that air chamber off. Right now everything is just bound up and at this point the best option is to just take it apart and put it back together. Then measure the rod on the other side and cut this one to the same length. Make sure you out a nut onto the threads of the rod before cutting it so you can spin it off to clean up the threads.
With no air to the chamber you should be able to at least move it a little by hand.Last edited: Feb 12, 2026
blairandgretchen, Siinman, Feedman and 5 others Thank this. -
Two weeks with no ETA is unacceptable for a 2025 model. Have you asked them about downtime compensation or a loaner? Since it's warranty work and the truck is practically new, I’d be escalating this to the regional service manager. Make some noise.

You betcha. Go piss off the guys who give zero ##'s when your truck is finished. Loaner truck? C'mon.
-
I ain’t never heard of anyone getting a loaner truck. I have had to rent one. But good luck renting a 4 axle. Custom truck is the only place I know to rent something like that. And they are all day cabs. But warranty isn’t going to provide a truck.
It don’t work that wayGatordude, blairandgretchen, Sons Hero and 8 others Thank this. -
What you stated is what I have been planning and trying to do all along. I was nervous about not being able to cage the chamber and the tension: don't want to injure myself....but I think that's unfounded now.
I also am wondering why this hasn't happened in the past if the rod is too long. That's why I came to the conclusion that the chamber might be broken/malfunctioning/damaged. -
I was reading the Cummins warranty at least on the pick up side and it sounds like I would have to pay for shipping, oil or whatever fluids. Hope it's not like that or I would have to easily give away another $1k!
